I hope you enjoy browsing through my new website 180 Miles By Bike which is the name of my new Art Gallery located on the Princes Hwy, which I hope to have open for you soon. I live and work in Port Fairy as an artist. You can see some of my artwork hanging at the Whalebone Gallery until my new Art Gallery in Port Fairy is finished.

The themes for my artwork come from having an appreciation of the quirky moments in life and that painting and drawings should allow not only for serious reflections but also for some whimsy and fun. The use of Lego characters and white sandy beaches gives a common doorway to many views for personal memories and interpretations.

The spirit of my approach and its irony can be best summed up in the words of one of my favourite cartoonist, Gary Larson.

“My drafting table, where I drew the Far Side for most of my career, faced a window that overlooked a beautiful garden; beyond the garden was a lake, and beyond the lake Mount Rainier rose majestically into the Washington sky. I worked at night.”

We hope you enjoy the artwork created by local Port Fairy artist John Davis.
